What are the side effects of Juvederm?

Juvederm belongs to the fillers based on hyaluronic acid. It is one of the most common drugs for the contour correction of wrinkles, elimination of deep nasolabial folds and giving additional volume to the lips. What are the side effects of Juvederm?

Features of Juvederm

Juvederm has a high rate of biocompatibility, which ensures the safety of its introduction without rejection reactions and allergies. The crystalline structure of the gel ensures its retention in the injection site for at least 6 months, during which the acid is gradually absorbed and excreted from the body.

  • Plasticity: it gently and naturally fills in the skin folds, making the skin smoother and looking completely natural;
  • Long-lasting effect of the injections over 6-9 months.

Indications

Contouring of the face with the help of injectable cosmetic preparations of Juvederm series is indicated in the following cases:

  • Loss of facial contours due to age-related changes;
  • The formation of wrinkles due to aging skin and deterioration of its tone;
  • The appearance of characteristic folds near the nose and lips;
  • For bio reinforcement procedures;
  • For diagnosing nasolacrimal sulcus abnormalities;
  • For the diagnosis of drooping cheeks and eyelids.

In addition, biomodelling gels can also be used if the patient wants to change the appearance of the face, correct the shape of the lips or cheekbones, chin or nose.

Contraindications

Juvederm products are based on hyaluronic acid and are safe for the human body. Contraindications to cosmetic procedures with their use are only general cases:

  • The patient suffers from acute diseases or experiences an exacerbation of chronic pathology;
  • Inflammatory processes are observed in the areas where injections must be performed;
  • The patient has a disease that interferes with blood clotting;
  • Injections are also prohibited during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Conducting the procedure

The process of facial biomodeling with Juvederm injections takes up to one hour, depending on the preparations used and other factors. During the introduction of additional anesthesia is not performed, as the included lidocaine avoids discomfort and pain. The use of additional anesthetics is possible only in the case of lip correction, because in this case you need a large number of injections into the mucous membrane.

To avoid complications after a cosmetic session, you should avoid visiting the swimming pool and tanning salon, and protect the skin from exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Redness and itching in the injection area may occur, which quickly disappear. For maximum effectiveness and prolongation of the effect of drugs it is recommended to undergo two procedures with a pause of 7 to 12 days between them.
